We invited artists to choose a poem or a specific verse that resonates with them, to explore the emotions, themes, or imagery of the chosen poem and use the unique qualities of encaustic to translate it into a visual work of art."

There are some fabulous works on display. The collection truly inspiring and attest to how much can be done with Encaustic Wax an ancient, yet versitile medium. See the full collection HERE

My encaustic wax work submitted for the exhibition is on board and canvas, 18"x20", titled: "Eagles Eye",

Below the poem Eagles Eye that accompanies the piece,

In the realm where dreams take flight, Where the eagles soar with grace and might, Upon their wings, a tale to tell, Of an eye that holds a vibrant spell.

Within that eye, a world unfolds, A tapestry of colors, stories untold. In the iris, a ring of amber fire, Burning bright, with a fierce desire, A beacon of passion, unwavering and strong, Guiding the eagle as it soars along. - Sundara Heart

Artist Statement

Through the fluid dance of brush and intertwining colors, an awe-inspiring vision materialized before my very eyes—an eagle. This encaustic wax painting serves as a powerful embodiment of the eagle's majestic essence. With bold and vibrant hues, the artwork captures the strength that radiates from this noble creature. Symbolically, the eagle represents more than mere power; it embodies courage, resilience, and immortality. Renowned as the "king of the skies" and revered as a messenger of the highest Gods, the eagle's piercing gaze and keen eyes are a testament to its indomitable spirit. Within this piece, I aim to convey the profound symbolism and significance associated with the eagle, inviting viewers to explore their own connections to its mythical and symbolic realms. May this artwork inspire contemplation, evoke a sense of wonder, and forge a deeper appreciation for the majestic beauty that exists both within nature and within ourselves. -SH
